Christmas 2014

Because Christmas truly is the most wonderful time of the year, we celebrated the entire month of December this year. With the help of a super cute advent calendar that my sister made, we did a little something every day leading up to Christmas. I loved it!

During the week we did silly stuff like sing Christmas songs, eat candy canes, drive around to see lights or color Christmas pictures. On weekends we did bigger things like decorate the house and get our Christmas tree. The massive amounts of rain put a damper on a few things, but it was still fun.

Our friend "Elfie" also came to visit from the North Pole. Telling the boys he would report to Santa each night kind of helped with behavior. Kind of. Caleb actually declared one day that Elfie wasn't real so he couldn't actually do that. A curse of having a bright kid.

We enjoyed our first Christmas service at The Bridge. Caleb refused to sing with the other kids on stage, but we will try again next year. Billy did a great job preaching, the music was awesome and I was reminded of all the really matters about Christmas. Since becoming a mother I find myself thinking about the Christmas story from Mary's point of view. What a faithful woman to trust God with so many scary and overwhelming circumstances. Her faith allowed Jesus to come into this world. I desire to trust as she did!

Christmas Eve was spent at Adam's aunt and uncle's house. This has been tradition in their family for many years. This was the 12th Christmas we have spent together. Wow. The boys had a great time playing with the other kids and we enjoyed a big prime rib dinner.

Christmas morning was spent at my parents and then we all gathered at our house for dinner. We opened presents on Christmas Eve, Santa came to our house AND grandma and grandpa's house and more presents came Christmas night. My kids are spoiled, but I decided that's ok. They are loved.

We spent the rest of Winter Break playing with new toys, going on "hikes" around the county and relaxing. It was perfect. So nice, in fact, that going back to work was really hard!
